The opportunity to learn about and understand the anatomy, physiology and basic pathology of the knee via ultrasound (U/S) techniques and the possibility to perform U/S guided infiltrations of the most relevant articulations is of great interest in clinical practice.
For this reason, the aim of the course is:

• to recognize the normal and pathological patterns in the relevant anatomical structures, the first essential step to understanding musculoskeletal (MSK) diseases such as synovitis, cartilage and bony lesions, tendinopathies, tenosynovitis, enthesitis, enthesopathy, etc.
• to give physicians the skills necessary to recognise the anatomical structures and potential sites of the main articular pathologies
• to acquire technical competence to perform U/S guided infiltration of the relevant areas with focus on probe positioning in the long and short axes and on-plane and out of plane infiltrations.

The practical sessions allow us:

• to better understand the anatomy of the knee and the correct relationship between the relevant anatomical structures and the topography of the articular lesions and degenerations (or pathologies)
• to learn Color and Power Doppler physics, application, indications and its limitations.
• to allow better understanding of the anatomy of the regions of interest and the correct relationship between the relevant anatomical structures and the topography of articular pathologies, lesions and degeneration in order to understand the rationale and technique for U/S guided procedures.

Finally, the opportunity to perform US-guided procedures with the aid of augmented reality and, even more importantly, on specimens in the anatomy theatre, will complete this intensive training course, a true deep dive dedicated to the study of the knee.
